SEAFRONT Magazine Interview-Navigating a New Maritime World Crafted by Technologists.

Dr. Sean Peng is the chairman and founder of Terasic Inc., which has been in the FPGA field for nearly twenty years, building the company into the world's leading FPGA system board company. Its products are exported to more than a hundred countries and have received public thanks from prestigious global universities. However, while working in North America, Dr. Peng was deeply influenced by the environment and culture there. Most of his sailing education was personally guided by his father, who led the family to start experiencing nature and embark on adventurous journeys. This is how the seed of exploration education in Europe and America was planted in the next generation through firsthand experience.

After returning to Taiwan to start his own business, Sean Peng founded Warhawk Sailing, which was established at the end of 2018. In 2019, two teams were formed to participate in the first international sailing race, the Cross-Strait Cup. In just three years, Warhawk Sailing has continuously expanded its scale, winning the Penghu Cup in 2020 and the Taiwan-Ryukyu Cup in 2023, and has become an internationally certified ASA sailing school by the American Sailing Association. Dr. Peng's passion for founding Warhawk Sailing and his practical advancement plan have been recognized by the renowned European shipyard with a seventy-year sailing brand, Elan Yachts, which has granted its exclusive agency rights in Taiwan. Furthermore, he has invested heavily in purchasing and rebuilding two shipyards, and has introduced the world's first brand of 75-ton self-propelled gantry cranes from Italy's Ascom, creating a modern boat lifting and maintenance shipyard. Dr. Peng, leading a new team, completed many of the most difficult puzzles in the sailing industry within just three years, including sailing education, competition training, boat sales, on-shelf maintenance, and logistics services, all completed in their own shipyards.

He hopes that with the efforts of the Warhawk Sailing team over the years, perhaps one day, the contributions made in sailing adventure education can be felt as a new value, just as Terasic has done in engineering education, allowing the world to feel a new value. "May we sail a thousand sails, and return still young."—he uses this phrase to illustrate Warhawk Sailing's persistence and passion for the sailing industry.
